Girls weekend in Marbella Old Town

Ok yes I was slightly cynical about Marbella when a girlfriend suggested we go there for the weekend. I think I was imagining TOWIE meets Saint Tropez but not necessarily in a good way!

How wrong I was…….Marbella Old Town is really very pretty with cobbled streets and shaded patios, rooftop bars and traditional squares. The weather was beautiful even in mid October and surprisingly we were able to sit on the beach all day. We had delicious food and I would really recommend Casa Tua just off Plaza Naranja (the main square) for a special dinner.

We stayed at La Villa Marbella and I am slightly reluctant to give out the name of this gem as it really is such a great place to stay. We had two gorgeous apartments for the six of us, both with a kitchen and living room looking out onto the cobbled streets. The breakfast was brilliant and the location is fantastic, just a few minutes walk from everything. The service there however really stood out for me. Everyone we came into contact with was so kind and helpful – nothing was too much trouble.

There is plenty to do depending on how much energy you have! Lots of boat trips, bikes for hire, day trips to Malaga, Seville or down the coast to Tarifa. You could even be skiing in the Sierra Nevada within a few hours depending on what time of year you go Guide to Marbella.

Or you can just be lazy like we were and amble around the town looking at some of the pretty churches there, browsing the great shoe and leather shops, eating tapas and sampling some delicious ice cream at Giolatto.

Sadly we didn’t get to try out any of the beach clubs as we didn’t think the weather would be good enough but I’ll definitely investigate those next time as I know we will return xx
